Alisal Ranch

Alisal is a guest ranch and resort on a 10,000-acre working cattle ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley, just outside Solvang in Santa Barbara County’s wine country. It has welcomed guests since 1946, and its mild Central Coast climate means it is open all year, something few ranches can offer.

Riding is central: Alisal keeps a string of around 100 horses for riders from beginner to advanced, with rides through the ranch’s canyons, oak woodland and hillsides. Beyond the saddle, it is more resort than rustic. The ranch has its own 18-hole golf course, open since 1956, a spa and fitness center, a six-court tennis complex, fly fishing and hiking, and the valley’s wineries are minutes away. Children’s programs are available.
