THE EXPERIENCE
Where Every Moment Tells a Story
Blackwater Creek Ranch sits at about 6,200 feet in the Shoshone National Forest west of Cody, Wyoming, just 15 miles east of Yellowstone National Park. Permitted as a tourist camp in the early 1900s, it is one of the oldest ranches on the North Fork of the Shoshone River; its cabins were built from 1915 into the 1950s.
The ranch hosts up to 30 guests from June through September, on three- or six-night all-inclusive stays covering all meals, ranch activities and amenities, plus off-ranch excursions. Days include horseback riding in the Wyoming wilderness and horsemanship lessons, fishing on the Shoshone River and Blackwater Creek, hiking, rafting, archery and shooting, and a pool; trail riding starts at age 5.
Guests stay in historic log cabins in a grove of tall trees, each with its own bathroom and some with several bedrooms, furnished with Navajo rugs. Cocktails and dinners are served in the lodge, with cookouts, campfires and trail lunches. Yellowstone Regional Airport in Cody is about 40 miles away and the ranch runs an airport shuttle.
