THE EXPERIENCE

Where Every Moment Tells a Story

Wind River Ranch is a Christian family guest ranch at about 9,200 feet outside Estes Park, around 81 miles from Denver International Airport. It describes itself as an uplifting Christian environment, and summer family weeks include a featured Christian guest speaker alongside the usual ranch program.

Summer stays run six nights from June through August for up to about 65 guests, with shorter four-night stays in September and October and adults-only weeks during the season. Children’s programs run in four age groups from 2 to 17, with trail riding from age 6 and pony rides for younger kids. The riding program covers beginner rides, cattle work, faster rides, team penning and private lessons, and there is also a zip line, rock climbing, archery, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, pickleball and a petting zoo, with golf five miles away.

Guests stay in log cabins with renovated bedrooms and bathrooms, and a week includes 17 family-style meals from the ranch chef, from themed barbecue and steak nights to a Friday breakfast in the aspen grove. There is a pool, hot tub, game room and babysitting. Ask the ranch for current rates and what each week includes.
