R Lazy S Ranch

R Lazy S Ranch has hosted guests since 1947 on 325 acres in Jackson Hole, about 20 minutes from the town of Jackson, bordered by Grand Teton National Park to the north and the Snake River to the east. It takes up to 40 guests from June through September on seven-night stays, looked after by an unusually large crew of about 30.

With around 80 horses, each guest keeps one horse and its tack for the week. There are about 17 all-day rides as well as half-day rides, for beginners and advanced riders, with private instruction, team penning, cattle drives and gymkhanas; trail riding starts at age 7. Several miles of private Snake River frontage and a stocked pond give the anglers plenty to do, and guided fishing, float trips and rafting can be arranged. Children have a full program with their own counselor and wranglers, and some weeks are adults-only.

Guests stay in 14 private log cabins with mountain or aspen views, each with one or two bathrooms and a stone fireplace or wood stove, around a main lodge with a big stone fireplace. Jackson Hole Airport is about 35 miles away. Ask the ranch for current rates.
