THE EXPERIENCE
Firehole Ranch is a fly-fishing lodge on 640 private acres on the shore of Hebgen Lake near West Yellowstone, about 18 miles from Yellowstone National Park. The log lodge, with its towering rock fireplace, and the lake-view cabins were handcrafted from local lodgepole pine in the 1940s and have been kept in their original style.
It is open for only about 16 weeks each summer, from early June to late September, and hosts no more than 22 guests at a time. Guided fishing is the focus: wading or floating with dry flies, nymphs or tandem rigs on the Madison, Gallatin, Firehole, Henry’s Fork, Yellowstone and Lamar. Non-anglers can hike, kayak and mountain bike. Gourmet meals are included.
The ranch has been named a Forbes Top 10 Fly Fishing Lodge in the World and Orvis Fly Fishing Lodge of the Year (2013). Packages start at three nights, and the ranch welcomes couples, families, friends and colleagues. Ask the ranch for current rates.
