THE EXPERIENCE
Where Every Moment Tells a Story
Powderhorn Ranch is a family-owned and family-run working cattle ranch on about 12,000 acres in Wyoming’s northern Laramie Range, 25 miles southwest of Douglas at the end of the pavement on Highway 91 (Cold Springs Road). Three and a half generations have run it, and it keeps over 100 horses and a herd of Angus cows with Charolais bulls.
The ranch takes up to 20 guests from May through October, with a three-night minimum. Days centre on horseback trail rides, ranch tours and an introduction to horse training, with fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, shooting and photography too; elk, mule and white-tail deer, antelope, turkeys and black bears live on the ranch. Guests can bring their own horse.
Accommodation is in the eight-bedroom Heritage House, full of six generations of family memorabilia, in suites and rooms above the DM Arena, and in lodge rooms. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served family-style in the main house, with picnics on rides. Casper-Natrona County International Airport is about 75 miles away and the ranch offers an airport shuttle. Ask the ranch for current rates.
