Gallatin Gateway, Montana
THE EXPERIENCE
Hubbard’s Six Quarter Circle Ranch is a small, upscale guest ranch at about 6,000 feet in the Gallatin Mountains near Emigrant, with views over Paradise Valley and the Yellowstone River and Yellowstone National Park close by. The Hubbard family has run cattle here for more than 30 years and grew the guest side gradually, starting by hosting friends and family.
With room for only about 15 guests, it is one of the most intimate ranches on our list. The season runs from June through September, with a three-night minimum. Riding is built around a working cattle operation, with cattle work, horsemanship and private lessons, beginner rides and faster rides, and guests can even bring their own horse. There is also fishing, hiking, river rafting, birdwatching and swimming.
Guest rooms are cabin-style, with reclaimed-wood beds, Pendleton blankets, walk-in showers and porches facing Paradise Valley. Dinners are cooked by professional chefs, and the ranch’s bar pours craft beers and wines. Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport is about 75 miles away, and the ranch offers an airport shuttle. Ask the ranch for current rates and what each stay includes.
