Diamond D Ranch

A family-owned wilderness ranch deep in the Frank Church

Stanley, Idaho

THE EXPERIENCE

Where Every Moment Tells a Story

Diamond D Ranch is a family-owned guest ranch inside the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness, the 2.4-million-acre wilderness that covers much of central Idaho, reached via Loon Creek Road out of the Stanley area. The ranch covers about 300 acres of meadows around a historic lodge more than a century old, with guest cabins, a private lake, a pool and a hot tub.

This is a true backcountry ranch. Horseback riding and overnight pack trips head into the wilderness, there are hot springs nearby, and guided fly fishing, hiking, archery, target shooting, gold panning and photography outings fill the days. Families get the classic ranch extras too: volleyball, kickball, campfires and afternoons by the pool. Fishing and hunting excursions should be reserved in advance.

Pack warm layers and sturdy boots, even in summer, because evenings in the high country are cool. Diamond D offers multi-day packages; ask the ranch for season dates, rates and what each package includes.
