Red Horse Mountain Ranch

Red Horse Mountain Ranch is an all-inclusive family ranch in the forested hills of the Idaho Panhandle, near the small town of Harrison and about 7 miles from Lake Coeur d’Alene. It owns 560 acres and has access to a huge outfitter area in the Idaho Panhandle National Forest, so trail rides cover a lot of country. Spokane International Airport is about 70 miles away, roughly an hour and a half by car.

The ranch hosts up to about 60 guests from May to October, with week-long stays from Sunday to Saturday. Each guest has their own horse for the week, with morning and afternoon trail rides in small groups of up to eight riders. What sets Red Horse apart is the adventure program: a zip line, challenge course and climbing wall, 3D archery and sporting clays, plus mountain biking, fly-fishing lessons, kayaking, yoga, a pool and hot tubs. Kids from age 3 can join, and young children can ride trails with a wrangler.

Guests stay in suites or log cabins with up to four bedrooms, and there is a hilltop vacation home for larger groups. The rate covers lodging, meals, snacks, a daily cocktail hour with alcoholic drinks for guests over 21, riding and activities. Premium wines and spirits and guided fishing trips cost extra, and a 15% resort charge plus Idaho taxes are added.
