Drowsy Water Ranch

A family-run Colorado dude ranch since 1977

Granby, Colorado

THE EXPERIENCE

Where Every Moment Tells a Story

Drowsy Water is a classic, family-run dude ranch in its own private mountain valley outside Granby: 700 acres at about 8,100 feet, roughly 100 miles from Denver International Airport. It has offered Western vacations for more than 90 years and has been run by the Fosha family since 1977. With room for around 55 guests, it is small enough that everyone knows everyone by midweek.

This is a summer-only, week-long ranch. The 2027 season runs from May 29 to September 18, with Sunday arrival and Saturday departure. Each guest gets a personal horse for the week, and the riding program runs from arena instruction to backcountry trail rides. Kids are a big part of the ranch: certified staff look after younger children, and the Rangerider program for ages 6 to 13 combines arena lessons with trail rides. The last weeks of the season, starting August 29 and September 5, are adults-only.

The weekly American Plan rate covers your log cabin or lodge room with private bath, all meals, your horse, supervised children’s programs, fishing, the heated pool and hot tub, and ranch activities such as hayrides, dances, a river float trip and campfires. Golf, guided fly fishing, massages and the zip line cost extra.

For 2027 the ranch lists $3,500 per adult per week, $3,100 for teens, $2,800 for children aged 6 to 12 and $2,100 for ages 2 to 5, plus sales and lodging tax. A staff gratuity of 12 to 18 percent is customary. Early-June and late-season weeks are discounted, which makes Drowsy Water one of the better-value all-inclusive ranches in Colorado.
