THE EXPERIENCE
Tombstone Monument Ranch and Cattle Company sits at about 4,500 feet just 2.5 miles from Tombstone, Arizona, and is open year-round for up to 50 guests, with a three-night minimum. Its 18 guest rooms, each sleeping two to four, are built to look like the storefronts of a western town, with names such as the Marshal’s Office, the Grand Hotel and the Post Office.
Riding is for all skill levels: slow scenic rides, fast rides, specialty rides such as the ride to Tombstone, beginner rides, horsemanship lessons and cattle work, with trail riding from age 5. Guests can also try team penning, archery and shooting and off-road UTV tours, and the ranch runs multi-day cattle drives, horse clinics and weddings. Nearby are historic mines, railroad trestles and petroglyphs.
Three hearty home-cooked meals a day are served, including a chuckwagon breakfast by the campfire and a nightly chef’s choice dinner, and special diets can be handled with notice. Evenings bring live western music and Texas Hold’em in the saloon, and there is a pool and hot tub. Tucson International Airport is about 71 miles away and an airport shuttle is available. Ask the ranch for current rates.
