Tumbling River Ranch

A historic Rockies ranch, reborn in 2026

Grant, Colorado

THE EXPERIENCE

Where Every Moment Tells a Story

Tumbling River Ranch sits at around 9,200 feet in Pike National Forest near Grant, along the Guanella Pass Scenic Byway, about an hour from Denver and 90 minutes from Denver International Airport. That makes it one of the most accessible mountain ranches in Colorado, and a realistic option for a long weekend as well as a full week.

The ranch has welcomed guests since 1946 and reopened in February 2026 after an $8 million renovation. There are 21 rooms and cabins, from one-bedroom studios to two- and three-bedroom cabins, plus the historic four-bedroom Ranch House, built in 1936 as a summer home for one of Denver’s early mayors. With room for about 60 guests, it stays small and personal.

The all-inclusive rate covers chef-prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner with drinks, and a long list of activities: archery, crafts, hiking, mountain biking and the wellness area in summer, ice skating, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in winter. The wellness area has four wooden hot tubs, a sauna and a cold plunge in the river. Horseback riding is not included in the base rate, and neither are white-water rafting, rock climbing, fly fishing, shooting or downhill skiing at Breckenridge, about 70 minutes away; you book and pay for those separately.

At its reopening the ranch announced all-inclusive nightly rates of $840 in winter and $1,180 in summer for two people sharing, with $250 per additional adult and $150 per additional child. The ranch is open year-round. Check current rates and what is included before you book, especially if riding is the main reason for your trip.
